Lucy Liu is an American director, actress, and a singer. A beautiful and smart actress she serves as an inspiration to many Asian actors who want to break into Hollywood. Following a string of appearances on a popular series of television, she became famous when she was cast in her role in the Ally McBeal legal comedy where she played Ling Woo. The fame she gained from the show was translated into films roles like Shanghai Noon or Charlie's Angels. The actress then gave an amazing performance as Japanese criminal O'Ren Ishii, in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. At the same time, she also played leading roles in several film that did not make the top of the charts, like Rise: Blood Hunter. After that, she was able to voice famous characters in animated films, such like Kung Fu Panda and Tinker Bell. Mia Mason's performance as a character in Cashmere Mafia, a small screen movie, did not bring about the results. In the course of her recurring roles in the critically-acclaimed police drama series Southland has helped her reestablish herself as a well-known actress. Liu plays her roles with the utmost respect in order to ensure she is not cast in an industry that is competitive.
